Hi everyone,
What a fun week this has been.
Some of the cool things that have happened.
1) I got a letter from the primary class!!!! I was so happy. Sister Jensen sent it out and it was so sweet. I am planning on writing something back so that they will know that I got it. We came home and after planning that night, I just laid on the floor reading it and laughing at all the cute little things that the kids did. So much fun!
2) We had a super fun FHE with a family from church! They have 4 kids and they really remind me of our family when we were younger! Super FUN!
3) We had our first companionship exchanges this week :) Which means it was the first week that I have spent more than a couple hours outside of Greeley. Super fun!
Thursday was the first day of our exchange so I went with Sister Plenert to her area and stayed with her there. We were in this teenie tiny town of Berthoud, CO where everyone knows everyone and there are only 2 stoplights and if you go outside of the town you see these giant houses of all the farmers. It was seriously so beautiful! Sister Plenert and I had an awesome time. We ate dinner with the Kelson family. Sister Kelson made this delicious asian salad and an angle food cake for dessert. She has the cutest little daughter named Ansley and she is 2 years old and had big blue eyes and curly blonde hair. At one point during the dinner when her mom went to go cut up dessert she shared with us her singing skills and sang to us, I am a Child of God and Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree. Cutest thing that I have ever seen in my entire life. She was singing it loud and proud in her little 2 year old voice. It was great. I am not gonna lie it was also really amazing to be able to understand all that was being said at dinner and knowing exactly how I wanted to respond. LOVED IT! After dinner we had a couple more visit that were pretty great! I really enjoyed teaching in English but I know God knew what He was doing when He called me spanish speaking. I missed speaking in Spanish!!! The next day we woke up and did our studies and visited a couple people. One of the families was really cool. They lived on a farm and they gave us some of there eggs. That was the first time I had ever been given fresh eggs on the mission. They also had these massive labs. One was a chocolate lab and the other was a white lab. They were so sweet and so much bigger than any of the other labs that I have seen. Then for lunch a member gave us a free meal at her restaurante called Da Bean. YUMMMMM!
Friday I was with Sister Johnson! Sister Johnson is quite possibly one of the funniest people I have met. She is from Cinncinnati, OH and is tiny. Her goal for this next week is to gain weight so that she can weigh 100 lbs. Ill send pics! Anyone, Sister Johnson and I had a really cool experience. Friday night we were out visiting a few less actives/ inactives and I didn't even realize it but we went to one of the same houses that Sister Plenert and I had visited earlier that day. The parents weren't home so I wasn't afraid to knock on the door the second time that day. Well, the dad opened the door and he looked a little overwhelmed at the sight of 2 sister missionaries standing in his doorway as well as his 2 dogs were trying to escape the coup and the exact moment we wanted to visit. Well Sister Johnson and her amazing missionary skills just asks if we could come in and starts walking in the door. I loved it! That's how you get in doors. But he said yes to our question so I wasn't worried about it. Well we sat down and started talking to him. Sister Johnson is a new missionary and has only been there about 3 weeks so needless to say, neither of us knew him or his story and he just started opening up to us and telling us about what happened and why he had stopped coming to church. He said that it has been on his mind a lot lately and that he wasn't sure why he even let us in. He said that it had been years since he let missionaries in and said that for some reason he felt like he needed to talk to us. I don't know why but I really felt like I needed to be there in Berthoud for this meeting. It was amazing. He has really been struggling and he is in a stage where he feels afraid to pray cuz he feels like he knows what the answer is gonna be already. We shared a message with him and we invited him to do one thing this week that will increase his relationship with God and he decided that he would brush of his scriptures and read from them. It was such an amazing experience to see the light of Christ get brighter in his eyes as we spoke. The Sisters are gonna go back and visit him next week so I am pretty excited about that.
Probably the craziest experience for the exchanges was when one night my companion and I walked into the house where they lived. This was when I was still on exchanges in Berthoud. Well We walk into the house and one of my MTC teachers was sitting on the couch. So weird. He had come to visit one of the daughters who lived in the house and it just so happened that I was on exchanges on the exact day that he came to visit. SO weird. But cool at the same time.
Anyways, I am about out of time. A lady is making us jalapeno bacon burgers for lunch so our emailing time has been cut a little short but know that I love you and I am so grateful for all that you do! Thanks for the emails and the letters and all the love!
PS check out Alma 13:24- super sweet missionary scripture that talks about how angels are preparing the hearts of many to hear the message of the Gospel! Do work and be a missionary. The Lord is preparing people to meet you!
