buenos dias bendito familia :) update Meagan 5/13/13

Buenos dias!

Que un hermoso dia! (What a beautiful day)

This week has been the greatest! I GOT TO TALK TO MY FAMILY :) There is not much better than that. And que padre lo fue que pude hablar con mi hermano Jared!!!! ( How cool was it that I could talk with Jared!)

That pretty much made my week. Sunday was great. We had 3 separate investigators come to church! It was such a blessing. 2 of them we have only met with twice so it is pretty hard to get them to come to church but they came and they loved it!

One of the men that came really enjoyed it. He super sticks to his word. If he says he will be there then he will be there. If he says he will read then he will read. What a blessing from Heavenly Father. We had a lesson with him last week and we invited a member to come with us and the member is super powerful! The lesson was great. We taught about the Plan of Salvation and really tied it into how much love Heavenly Father has for us that He created a plan that we can all one day return to live with him. It was wonderful!

Then the other investigator that came has come twice before and is truly interested in getting baptized. He is so great. We are just working on getting him to come to church on a more consistent basis. Which I think that he really wants to do. In order to come to church he had a friend give him a ride and the friend stayed for the Sacrament too. How amazing is that!!!!! The Lord truly is blessing Sister Hill and I tremendously!

The third investigator that came is the sweetest lady. She isn't to much older than I am. We have had one lesson with her and we stopped by and visited with her. She is great. She brought 2 of her kids with her too. One is 5 yrs old and the other is 11. They are good kids! They have had a pretty rough life and it was really easy for me to relate to her and her family's situation. I truly think that I am suppose to be her to support her. It is a great feeling.

So with the new pilot program that the church has we have been really pushing to get 10 hours of service and 20 lessons. And we got our goal!!!!!! We completed 11 hours of service and had exactly 20 lessons. What an amazing week.

One of those lessons We committed a family to keep the Word of Wisdom in which they had to give up coffee and THEY ARE DOING IT!!! The Lord knows who is ready and willing to hear the message of the restored gospel and He directs every step we take as missionaries to help us find those people.

This week we also had that freak hailstorm... YUCK! The sky looked awful and needless to say, I was not a happy camper. We were outside for maybe 20 seconds in it and I was drenched and pelted so hard. Luckily the hail wasnt too big but man it was crazy. After the little storm though there was so much road on the water. It was crazy. My companion got a pretty sweet picture of it so I will send it too you all! Someone we talked to actually said they saw a tornado funnel over there home. DOUBLE YUCK! That was not a very pleasant.

So some of the greatest things that I have learned...
1. As you are obedient and follow the commandments, even through hard times, blessings will follow. So I want to make sure my faith stays strong the rest of my life so that I can receive the blessings of Heaven.
2. It is truly important to keep your word. Before, I dont think that I did the greatest at keeping my word but know it is something that I want to improve. Which also comes the importance of remembering the things that you have committed to doing.
3. I really want to make sure I study my scriptures every day for the rest of my life because it is amazing what you can learn from them. A quote I remember hearing (it may have been from General Conference o algo but it says) If you are prepared then you have no reason to fear. I want to make sure I am prepared so that I do not need to fear. Because from what I have heard, there are some crazy things going on in the world. ( Did I tell you that last week during an appt when the Elders were giving a blessing to one of our investigators that there was a gunshot. That was an experience... But the Lord protects His missionaries so I am grateful.

So life is pretty great :) I seriously love being a missionary. I dont know what I was thinking when I was nervous about coming. It is tough but there is nothing better than speaking spanish and talking about the Lord. Except maybe eating Chile Rellenos and Tamales :) Oh and tres leches! (Which is a super delicious cake) The food is amazing! I am slowly learning how to make different things.

I love you all very much and am grateful for everything that you have done for me. Stay strong and say your prayers and if ever you feel weak or discouraged remember that you have a loving Savior who understands exactly how you are feeling and what you are experiencing. Dios les bendigas (God bless)

LES AMO,
Hna Jarvis
