So sad story! I had a good size email written out and then I accidently deleted it. I am soooo sad! But I will try to remember most of the things I said.
So as it says in the heading of this email... I currently have a total of 35 bug bites. I am going craZy!!!! After we are finished with emails we are going to the store and I am buying benaydrl and anti itch stuff! I am so grateful that I have been saving up some of my money.
This week we had some really wonderful lessons. We found a man who we have been trying to find for the last month! Welp it turns out that he went to Mexico for the month and didnt tell us. Silly man! But we found him again and we shared a powerful message about faith and the importancia of faith in our lives. He is super great. And really had a lot to share. He has had many experiences in his life that have helped him see the blessings of God in his life. We invited him to come to church and HE CAME!!! It was so wonderful. He was there 15 minutes early and had a great time talking to the members of the branch. It is amazing what the members can do to help them feel more comfortable. I am so grateful! So if you are ever at church and see a new face. Go up and introduce yourself. It could make all the difference in the world. That is actually something that he said. He really felt included and enjoyed how everyone came up to him to help him feel at home. He really enjoyed church too! He could only stay for the first 2 hours but next week he is hoping to stay for the entire time. Heavenly Father is blessing us so much.
The family that we are teaching are actually the ones who told us to go visit him so when the family at church saw their friend, it was an amazing way to develop trust between ourselves as missionaries and our investigators. The family that we are teaching are fantastic! I love them so much. The daughter is 11 yrs old and we get along so well! She is so smart and loves learning. One of her favorite things during the week is Primary! What a blessing :) The parents are also still keeping the Word of Wisdom and are leaning a lot. I am so excited for them. TOnight we are setting some goals to help them to get married and then baptised. We also talked about the temple and they enjoyed it so we are hoping to set a date that they can go together as a family to the temple. What a blessing it is to work with a family who is genuinely trying to improve their lives.
This week we had a pretty tramatic experience with one of our investigators. He got a call when we were over at his house that said his aunt was taking his grandma to the hospital because they thought she was having a heart attack. He was having a really rough time with it and I am so grateful that we were there. We shared a message with them from Alma 7:11-12 that talks about Jesus Christ and how he will go forth suffering pains, afflictions and temptations of every kind that he would be able to fulfill the will of His Father and also by doing this He was able to learn how to better understand our individual needs so that he could help us whenever we are struggling. Our investigator really found peace from this message and his mom who has typically tried to avoid us in the past sat in on the lesson. She didnt comment alot but you could really tell she was struggling and experiencing a lot of pain. We invited them to pray and to continue to look for the strength that Christ has to offer. It was a very powerful lesson. Two days later we went back to check on them and you should have seen the change in them. Everything went well with the grandma. It wasnt a heart attack thank goodness and the only thing that really happened to her was she broke her toe while at the hospital. Well we shared a lesson and so many people were there. Our investigator's mom was there and she was happy, she had questions, and was working hard to keep the kids focused during our lesson. In total we had 14 people who were there. It was amazing. We talked about the commandments and the importance of following the commandments and doing good things. the 7 kids who were there just ate it up. They were raising their hands and jumping up and down so they could tell us how they were good kids and how that made their lives better. This family is great! They are learning alot and their lives are getting better day by day. You can see it in their eyes. What a blessing!
We also did lots of service this week. We volunteered at habitat for humanity building a house! That was so so so much fun! I got a nice little sunburn so now I have a pretty good tan!
We volunteered at a placed called the Global Refuge Center teaching English. We had about 20 people in our class and I would guess that there were 8 to 10 different languages. It was amazing to see. They were so nice. I really have a lot to learn about humility. That is for sure.
I am just about out of time. Sorry my letter wasnt too long. But remember! I love you all! I am so grateful to be a missionary. To help others come unto Christ is an amazing opportunity that has given me the chance to learn so much more about my Savior.
Les amo tanto,
Hna Jarvis
