All is Well! update for Jessica 5/29/13

Ciao tutti!

I have been at the MTC for 4 weeks. I am leaving for Italy in 13 days. Holy cow! Time flies here! I am so happy here at the MTC. Not every day is easy, but every day is worth it. Great news! I feel much improved! Things are looking up :)

I'm gonna try and re-cap in order. Last Friday we had later gym and our zone got to go outside and play on the fields in front of the temple. We played volleyball in the sand and it was glorious! I love my zone full of so many amazing people enlisted in the work! So much enthusiasm :)

Sunday was one of the most amazing days ever! I have pretty much never felt so overwhelmed by emotion and the Spirit. We were told in sacrament that we would be watching Sister Monson's funeral procession for our "movie" time that night and I'm not gonna lie, I was a little nervous. Our devotional speaker (Stephen B. Allen- manager of the missionary dept) came and told us that he had a whole talk prepared but when he walked in and heard that we would be watching that the Spirit told him that he couldn't share what he'd planned. He told us that he was just going to be lead by the Spirit and if we had anything we needed answered to quickly send up a prayer and he do his best to listen and be inspired by the Spirit. I quickly said a small prayer about the questions and concerns that had been troubling my thoughts. It was amazing, I know my prayers were answered and so many others were too. I have had so many little moments during my time here that Heavenly Father has taken the time to remind of His love for me. I hope this experience is one I never lose and always remember during those hard times. We finished by singing "Come, Come Ye Saints" along with a video of MoTab. The arrangement they sang was so beautiful and it was wonderful to sing with them!

Sister Monson's funeral procession was incredible. If you have the chance to see it (I don't know if it's on BYU.edu or something, maybe lds.org). It was important that Brother Allen prepared us for watching it. We shouldn't be focusing on the loss but the fact that Sister Monson has "graduated" this life and is on to the next phase. She was such an amazing and loving woman, it really made me think about the person I want to become. I have so much ahead of me and so much to be done!

Our devotional yesterday was also super great! The speaker was W Craig Zwick of the seventy. It was awesome! It was also a historic day. Yesterday was the first day that the West Campus was used. We now have missionaries living in the old Wyview and Raintree. So crazy! I really loved that Sister Zwick spoke for a sufficient amount of time too. She shared a scripture Omni 1:26 that I really loved. She said that we have a choice. We can give way to doubt and fear or get to know our Savior better than ever before. I think I'll choose the latter. Some of the best quotes from both of them were "I can make this journey with the power (and blessing) of faith" and "You can have His image in your countenance." There are 6 steps to become more Christlike:

1. Start with the end in mind

2. Strong desire and commitment

3. Willingness and discipline to work hard

4. Prepare for the challenges

5. Structural and Spiritual Integrity

6. Total dedication to the Lord

On Sunday my whole district dressed up in the colors of the Italian flag. It was glorious. Especially because they're Christmas colors! Yesterday Sister Killpack and I had 3 really great lessons. One of them happened to be with a member in Italy. We were the first Italian missionaries to teach over skype! So awesome!

The sisters in our district were inspired with the Italian colors and are now playing Secret Santa. We have left 2 gifts of bubbles, chex mix, mints, and some other random treats on the desks of 2 people in our zone. We're planning to keep doing it every other day till we leave. So fun!

The Italian comes a little more every day. The Lord is always willing to help and I have seen His help in my life!

I love you all! Keep the faith! Don't trust google translate :)

There will be some epic photos next week...stay tuned!
