I don't think that I can write down all the miracles that I received this
week. One right after the other, I tell you.
They all started Christmas eve when I was in a district meeting and got a
call from an unknown number. I normally don't like to answer those calls but
being I'm a missionary, you never know who is going to call. Guess who was on the
other side of the phone! Sister Kaiser!!! Sister Kaiser is in the Broomfield 3rd
Ward and she was and is always an answer to my prayers. She said that her and
her family were dropping family off at the airport and that they would love to
come to Greeley and take us out to lunch. Well, little did she know that Hermana
Mangum (who was my companion in Broomfield was sitting right beside me). So we
went to lunch at Panda Express and guess who shows up?!?!
Santa came in and was passing out candy canes!!! Oh man, I just love being
a missionary. The blessings that we get to see are some of the most amazing
blessings ever. I may just be a little biased as well though. But missions, they
are pretty great.
The next miracle happened right after that :) Hermana Mangum and her
companion, Hermana Soto, needed a ride to their next appointment which was at
the house of one of the ladies in the Spanish branch. I love her so much and she
also has some of her kids who live in the area who i taught while I was serving
here. Well, the sisters invite us in to go see Hermana Martinez. I was curious
who all was going to be there and they told me that probably one of her
daughters-in-law, Maria, was going to be there and I could feel the excitement
start to kick in. But they didn't think the other daughter-in-law, Mel, was going
to be there so I was a little sad. So we are walking up to the door and we knock
and we hear someone coming. I could barely contain the joy that I was feeling. I
love this family! And the door opens and I see Mel! It took us both about 10
seconds to realize that this was really happening and I was just soo happy. We
my brain started to work again, I ran up to her and gave her a big hug. Oh man,
it was like I was in heaven or something. The only regret... I wish I would have
taken a picture.
Next miracle was Christmas!!!!! I TALKED TO MY FAMILY!!! I mean what
greater present is there than talking to your family. And I was really sad
because I didn't get the memo from Jess that she was getting on later than what
we had talked about. I was coming to terms with it and I was dealing with the
fact that I wasn't going to talk with her until Mother's day but my companion had
just finished talking with her family and we were on our way out the door to
Christmas dinner when I got the impression that I needed to go and at least try.
And so I am online and I hit the call Jessica button and nothing happens. But I
get the impression that I needed to try again... And it said call answered. I
could not even begin to express how unbelievably happy I was to see Jess! I
think I was just so happy because I had already told myself that it wasn't going
to happy this year and I would have to wait till next year. But there she was.
The instant I saw her, I burst into tears... I was so happy. Best miracle ever.
I could only talk to her for a few minutes because by that time we were already
going to be late for our Christmas dinner! But I couldn't help myself.
Christmas and Christmas Eve we were also given permission to watch movies
:) And so we watched Monsters University ( most hilarious movie I have seen in a
...year ahahaha) and Despicable Me 2!!! Best night ever. And we also watched
Lady and the Tramp because we had time for one more movie and that was the only
one our members that we live with owned haha (ill send a picture of us).
And my favorite miracle of the week! A Sister in our Ward invited her
friend to church and she loved it! Absolutely loved it! She said that this has
been what she has been looking for for so long. She wants to feed us dinner
because she heard about our dinner calendar during the one of the hours at
church and she called us this morning and we set up a time that we are going to
have dinner with her! I am sooooo happy! Best DAY EVER. Member missionary work
works! Don't be afraid to invite someone to church. It works miracles! I have
heard of 3 times this week with missionaries just in my area when people have
approached them. One of them was met on Christmas day and in just 4 days has
decided he wants to get baptized. Miracles are everywhere. Look for them and you
will find them :) I know it!
I love you all! Thank you for your love and support and all your letters
and emails. They are just what I need every time. I love you all. I love the
Lord. I know I am here for a reason and I am working hard to figure it out.
Les amo,
Hermana Jarvis
PS- President Brown also approved my companion and I to go to the Spanish
branch for Sacrament meeting for language study since our church doesn't meet
until 1 pm. I'm so happy to be able to hear Spanish again :) I love it.
Here is one of my Christmas presents :)
