Oh the adventures I've had :) update for Meagan 10-14-13

Buenos dias mis queridos,

This week has been an adventure that is for sure! We've still been doing service almost everyday in response to the flood. It has been crazy.

On Tuesday 10/8 we went to this beautiful place up in the mountains of Left Hand Canyon. Hna Mangum and I had been trying to contact this family for a few days but we had just been playing phone tag and could never reach them. On Tuesday morning we met up with some other missionaries and decided we would call Carol and Michael and see if they had any work for us. Like always, we got the answering machine but within a few minutes Carol called us back and said that she would love if 2 of us could come. Currently there were 8 of us who were waiting for a project and like a champ, Hna Mangum asked if all 8 of us could come. She sounded like she was going to cry she was so grateful. So we made the 30 minute drive up the mountain side and made it to her home. We met Michael and Carol and got to work. Their house was taken over by mold so we basically had to rip out everything. But first we had to move Carol's food storage. She laughed and said that she was a lot like us Mormons and that she had a lot of food. That made us all laugh. So we moved her food storage. It took 4 sisters and we got everything moved out in about 45 minutes and Carol was on the verge of tears because that would have taken her days to do. The rest of the day a few of us worked on her home tearing up tile and taking out drywall, we worked in their crawl space trying to clean out what damage was left from the flood and others of us worked alongside Carol making lunch for everyone. Carol was in need of some girl time and I think she needed to feel like things were normal again. They are currently living in a hotel and have been for the last month. I hope they will be able to get into their home soon. I'll send some pics of their home and view. Its beautiful!

On Thursday 10/10 we went to another home up in the mountains but it was in the other direction. These people, their house wasn't affected but they had a mudslide that took out their backyard. I'm guessing we shoveled 3 to 4 feet of mud from an area that was about 10ft by 10ft. It was a lot of work and let me tell you, the next day I sure was feeling it. I'll send more pictures :)

Friday 10/11 we had a meeting in Fort Collins for all the missionaries who were training and their companions so we went to Cafe Rio for lunch :) Best day ever!! Also, Mom and Jess remember that time we went to Fort Collins and we stayed in a Days Inn?! Totally drove past the hotel we stayed at. Super crazy. But I loved it. Whenever I'm in Fort Collins I always see things that I remember from when we went there.
Friday we also had dinner with the family who's dad is a chiropractor. And we had a new missionary and he adjusted us all. I've decided that I need to marry a chiropractor or have a chiropractor friend that I can trade with! I feel like a brand new person especially after all the service.

We have had a few Spanish opportunities this week! Yesterday at church a lady gave us a referral for a Spanish family that we are going to visit tomorrow and we had a great conversation with a man named Jose that is a neighbor to a Spanish referral that we received from a member. I love that we get to use our Spanish sometimes. It's not often but when it happens, its a tender mercy.

I love you all. Thanks for all your love and support. I hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Dios les bendigas,
Hna Jarvis
