Work, work, work update for Meagan 9/3/13

This week Sister Mangum and I worked hard!!! We had a lot of plans and wanted to meet a lot of people. It was fun. We stayed busy and worked really hard.

Adventures of the week include:

1. The elders using our car and so Sister Mangum and I ended up on bike... (Whole new respect for elders) But lets be real, riding a bike in a skirt... probably one of the hardest things I've done in a while. At one point in time, a car drove by and the wind caught my skirt just right... disaster. My skirt went flying in the air. Not attractive at all. Yesterday though, the elders used our car again so we had to bike to our p-day activity. luckily the activity wasn't too far away but phew it was hot. Also we were in our p-day clothes. Jess, don't know how you do it everyday! I like my comfy seat and my AC. Count your blessings! I'll name them one by one... A car, a steering wheel, AC, CD player ha and I can go on and on..

2. Exchanges!!! This week I stayed in my area and worked with Sister Wachlin! Super fun. Kinda embarrassing because everything seemed to go wrong that day but its ok. We made up for it in Spirit :)

3. The man in our ward that is a chiropractor had signed up for dinner last week. I was counting my blessings then too. Sister Mangum and I were laughing about how Heavenly Father answers our prayers. He has an amazing sense of humor. Anyway, I wasn't going to say anything unless he brought it up and the second we walked in the house he said, "Sister Jarvis, make sure you don't leave here until you've been adjusted." Hallelujah! It was super fun. He ended up adjusting all of us (Sister Mangum, Elder Bennet, and Elder Payne) Neither of them had ever been adjusted before so that was pretty funny to see how nervous they were at first and how happy they were afterwards because it feels so good. I was a happy camper, and I haven't slept better :) now that my neck doesn't hurt :)

4. While tracting on Saturday, Sister Mangum and I weren't having much success. We were able to set up a couple return appts and had some very funny experiences. One door we knocked on. This young guy probably in his late 20's came out, obviously not running on all 4 cylinders, and we introduced ourselves as missionaries but he wasn't very interested. We asked him if he new of anyone who could use a message about Jesus Christ and he yelled into his roommate and asked if he needed Jesus in his life... Very awkward... We left and continued on our way knocking on doors. 3 doors later we hear that same man yell outside his door, "Jesus, come back to me." Too funny! Sister Mangum and I couldn't help but laugh.

5. At dinner on Saturday I was able to use some of my Spanish :) We were at dinner with a wonderful family (Mom, you might actually get an email from her... Her name is Sister Kaiser) Anyways, their neighbor speaks Spanish and she came over in the middle of our dinner and I was able to talk with her :) That was super fun. I hope that we will be able to visit them sometime this week and have here help us with our Spanish and maybe we can teach her about the gospel :) Tender mercies of the Lord are so wonderful!

This week has been a tough week because we weren't able to see as many people as we would have liked but Heavenly Father still blessed us with the things that we need :) WE were able to meet with some really wonderful people and this week we have a few appts set up already so it should be awesome.

I love being a missionary and learning about the gospel. I have learned so much and am so grateful for the gospel in my life. I know that Heavenly Father hears our prayers and knows us individually. He loves us and he cares about us. I love you all and I hope everyone has a wonderful week!!!!

Also, the skies here are so beautiful! I cant get over how breath taking the sunsets can be!

Con carino,
Hermana Jarvis
