C'e Sole Nella Mia Anima! update for Jessica 9-11-2013
Buon Giorno!
How are you my dears!? I love you all and I hope you're doing well! The title of this emailing is from a hymn, "There is Sunshine in my Soul Today." It's true :) My hands are tired so this week will be more illustrated than typed :)
So as I said last week, I have been transferred to Bergamo! We got to the train station around 6:15 in the morning and as I'm sure you all guessed, it was packed....
What can I say? It's a crazy place to be at 6:15 in the morning. So while we waiting we decided to indulge in some treatsies! Yea!! One of our students from English class brought us these twizzlers back from her vacation in the US. They started in Denver went down to Moab, up to Salt Lake, then over to Boise. From there they went to Seattle and Vancouver then Crescent City and came back from San Francisco. Very impressive. They drove they whole trip! Love them! Love twizzlers for breakfast :)
We went from Mestre to Verona to pick up a couple of other sisters who were being transferred that I would be travelling to Milan with. This was a very tricky task. Three sister missionaries moving all across the country with 3 bags each. Fun, fun, fun!
We did get yelled at my the ticket checker. (PS this is Sister Clawson, she's now in Bergamo too!)
We got to Milan and there were probabaly 20 missionaries already there. It was so great! I got to see some people from my MTC district that I hadn't seen in forever! Love them!
It's just a couple bags...
We got on another train (# 3 for the day) and headed off to Bergamo just Sorella Clawson and I. Bergamo is a bigger city than Mestre but not as big as Milan. I was super excited but so scared to have to learn a new city all over again. It's crazy how the missionaries can be somewhere for a transfer and know more about the area than someone who's lived there for 20 years. As soon as we walked out of the train station I knew I was going to love it here! The city is built in the mountains and has a place called Citt'Alta (Città Alta) or High City. It's where the city was originally built and you can see it right when you get here. This is good and bad. Beautiful view, beautiful history, but now I have to occasionally right my bike up a mountain. Like any time I want to go to church. But it's really good exercise and the ride down is a breeze. Oh! And there's way less humidity here. YEA!!
I am so excited to be in the same city as one of my favorite people ever from the MTC, Sorella Walch. Then there is Sorella Clawson and my companion Sorella Nelson who I already love! So lovely! So there are 2 wards and a branch here in Bergamo. All in all we have 10 missionaries! Crazy! I love it!
Leaving behind a city is so hard. I love the people in Mestre so very much and am gonna miss them tons. But! I already know that I'm gonna love it here. We have a little teeny branch with some amazing members! There is so much work to be done here and so many wonderful people! This is my new home for the next little bit.
to be continued...
the continuation...
I also love Bergamo because their mountains are basically the same as mine back home! Yes!
And this is Bergamo at night...
This is Bergamo... "lit up"...
Oh yeah! First lightning picture! Love it!!
Well that was ever longer than just typing an email. I love you all! Take care!
Vi voglio bene,
Sorella Jarvis
