IT'S A TORNADO!!!!!!!! Yep that's right! We were hit with some tornados. But lets be real. That's not really the tornado. You know I wouldn't be caught dead outside with a tornado near by. But there were some tornados. The closest one to us was about 15 miles away... I am not sure if there was any damage from it but that was about all I heard. I know that we had one more that was in the area but it didn't do any damage.
Now I will start with the whole story. Saturday I wasn't feeling well but we had to keep working. We went to a baptism earlier in the morning and went with the Elders to give a blessing. Super fun. After that we had a relief society activity. Sister Vargha and I had to share a little 10 minute spiritual thought which I felt really good about. We talked about how we all had a lot on our plates but there are ways to do things that are more productive and how it is the people in this life that really matter. It was cool! During the activity just about everyone got a warning on their phones that there was a tornado warning and everyone should take cover. I honestly didn't take it that seriously because we had had them before sent to our phones but nothing happened. But after the activity we went outside and you knew something was going on... Not good!!!! This picture, I took of Sister Vargha as she was looking at the clouds flying by. It was crazy! We saw the clouds moving so fast. I thought I was gonna die of panic. But I SURVIVED! I wish I would have gotten a good picture of the sky. It was green like I had never seen a green sky before. I wanted to vomit. and you think I am exaggerating! YUCK! I am not. It was terrifying. Well we got on the road soon after this picture was taken. Sister Smith and Sister Soto who are missionaries that serve with us were also at the activity just piled into our car and we got on the road. And we couldn't have gotten in a car at a better time! Cuz we were driving and all of a sudden I thought the sky was falling on us it was raining so hard!
The windshield wipers didn't work fast enough to be able to see but like a rock star I maneuvered the car. But as we were in this storm we realized that we were going to an apartment building that didn't have a basement. So we called our fearless Zone Leaders and asked them what to do because it was a little crazy and we need a place to go. They just told us to come to where they live cuz they have a basement just in case something bigger were to come our way. Just as we got off the phone it began to hail. It wasn't that big thankfully but it was still coming down hard. (Some people saw golf ball sized hail... Barf!) We made it safely to the Zone Leader's house. Our district leader and his companion were also there. The elders were ready and waiting with umbrellas to help us into the house. But I wasn't about that. I wasn't gonna be outside for one more second than I had to be so I just ran out full speed into the house. Needless to say I was drenched from head to toe but I survived :) (Ok so that might have been a little dramatic but I was freakin out!) Anyways, we waited out the storm at with the Elders. It was a good ol' missionary party. We ended up playing Ticket to Ride! Shout out to all my BYU-I friends! I don't know why I never played with you all. That game was fun! Also I think I had some beginners luck. I think God knows me well enough to let me win a board game when there are potential tornados going on around me. Lets just say that I was made fun of because I was so focused.... Lets be real, I was trying to forget all about Armageddon that was going on outside. We then had some fun sharing missionary stories and we also did this crazy peppermint challenge. I don't even know how to explain it other than it was crazy! And painful. But it clears out your sinuses. You take the essential oil, peppermint, and rub it under your eyes and your nose. It stung but we all did it to pass the time. It was hilarious. But I survived. I think it was one of those moments where you have to be there hahaha but let me tell you, I had a blast!
Anyway, I believe that is all my crazy adventure stories for the week. I am gonna send some other pictures hopefully. But first I had to tell you about the tornados because I know none of you would believe that I could survive something like this.
But I am safe and sound and it will def be a memory to never forget. I was never even ever in any real danger. But lets just say, next time I see one of those cell phone warning things a little more seriously. hahaha Lesson learned.
Love you all so so much.. I just don't even know if anything can compare to that experience so I have currently forgot about everything else that I wanted to tell you about. Sorry.!
