Its a Great Day to be Alive! update for Meagan 8/26/13

Wow!!!! This week has been amazing!!! I have seen so many blessings and I am just in my first week!!!

Last week started off a little crazy! Monday, after meeting my new companion, we traveled to our new area in the Boulder Zone. We get to our area which is Broomfield and by this time it was pretty late. I would say it was around 845pm or so and we still hadn't received the address of where we would be staying. About 15 minutes later our Zone Leaders found our address and we made our way over to our new home. It was about 915 when we pulled up to the house and we unloaded the car and went to introduce ourselves to the lady that we would be living with. Welp, she wasn't answering her door so we were a bit nervous. About 10 minutes go by where we are trying to figure out what to do. Well, we ended up calling her and she said there must have been a miscommunication because we were unable to live with her. Needless to say, that was a surprise and we had no where to live. Luckily there were some sisters who were helping us move all of our things and they called the members that they live with and asked if we could come home with them and stay there for a few days until our ward found a place for us to live so we moved in with the Rice Family from Boulder. They are so so sweet!

A few days later the ward was able to find us housing with a wonderful couple. The Allred family. Sister Allred actually knows Spanish so she has helped us out a bunch. They have a beautiful dog named Coalford who is a german shepherd/black lab mix. He is so much fun. We sometimes take him running with us in the mornings. They also have a cute cat named Frodo but he doesn't like people that much so we kinda stay out of his way haha

This week we have spent a lot of the time getting out there and meeting the members!!! It is a crazy large ward. Our ward list is 15 pages long. I don't know how we will ever be able to meet everyone! Sunday was crazy. I would venture to say that it is at least 6 maybe 7 times larger than the branch. NO joke. Its cool to see. It is also kinda nice to be serving in an English area but I am dying a little inside with out all my Spanish. It is nice being able to fully communicate with everyone. Also, I have already felt like this is truly where I am supposed to be. In so many different ways I am able to relate with the families. It is amazing! I am really loving it. Also my new companion, Hermana Mangum is super legit. We get along great. And she plays basketball! We are totally gonna dominate! IT is awesome!

We also got to the area at the exact perfect timing! On Saturday they had a ward activity. A Luau to be more specific and it was awesome!!!!! SO awesome.

Can you see the double rainbow?! We need to do something like this back home in the branch. It was a promotion for missionary work. They invited everyone to bring a friend and it was amazing. Almost 200 people showed up. Members, less actives and non members. It was amazing. Sister Mangum and I and Elder Bennet and Elder Payne (the two elders that we share the ward with) had to do a musical number. IT was fun... and terrifying at the same time. I don't think I have ever sung in front of that many people. Crazy! There was also a pig roast. I have pics and we had Polynesian dancers. It was awesome!!! We had food and shaved ice, fun and games, and a man teaching ukelele lessons, volleyball in the grass and a couple of grandmas teaching how to crochet "leis" and the finale was one of the Polynesian male dancers danced with fire.

It was amazing!!! Coolest ward activity that I have ever been to. Except for "Revolution of a Boy Band"

Also another tender mercy of the Lord. The area that I am in now is very well off. So far I have met dentists, doctors, CEO's of companies and so forth. Everyone is so educated. Well, on Saturday I was talking to my companion and I was saying how we should keep an eye out for a chiropractor and I was just joking about it and that very same night we were at the ward activity and we met a man in the ward who is a chiropractor and said that he could help me out. Heavenly Father loves me, even if I ask for ridiculous things haha but seriously it made my companion laugh because it came true. I love being a missionary and seeing how Heavenly Father takes care of our every need, even when it truly isn't that important.

mas potos y a cool story :)

yummy food!!!! From the Luau!

our luau sign :)

our bishopric having a dance off and who can do the best hula!!!! So hilarious!

Also, I forget to tell everyone!

There is a couple in our ward. They love corvettes!!!!! The wife owns a 1982 Shark Corvette that was the last one of its model. Its no String Ray but it sure is a beauty! She wants a String Ray and so she patted me on the back. I think she was so proud that she didn't know how to react. The husband owns a 1989 Corvette. It is stunning!!!

I seriously almost cried just being able to touch them... Photos to come of those cars!!!

Also now that they know I love cars, they invited my companion and I to volunteer at a car show here in just a few weeks where there will be a one of a kind racing corvette so if you never hear from me after September 21st. Just know that I died and went to heaven a happy happy person. but seriously... I may or may not have a heart attack they are so beautiful!!!!

Love you all :)
