You wont believe It! update for Meagan 8-19-13

I'm getting outta Greeley, CO. After 7 months in Greeley, President Brown has called me to serve in the Broomfield 3rd Ward in the Boulder Zone!!! What what!!!! I have heard a lot of great things about the Ward so I am excited to get to work!!! It is crazy to think that I will be moving to a different area. I will also be training for the 4th time running. It is crazy!!! 4 times is 4 transfers... It's a lot of work but I love it!!!! I am really looking forward to this new adventure! I will also still be the a Sister Training Leader which I am super excited about! I love serving others and watching them grow. One of the sad parts is that I am serving in a 100% English area... I cant even teach in Spanish if we find someone because there are already spanish missionaries in the area and I am training a new missionary who is expected to learn Spanish. This is going to be an adventure. I will really have to step up my game with the language so it will be a lot of fun. So this afternoon we head to Loveland and tonight I meet my new companion and we head to Broomfield and we get to work!!!

This week Sister Vargha and I had a lot of success!!! More than we have had this transfer. That always seems to be the case. You work really hard and then right as you think you might be leaving the miracles come. It is amazing to be able to see the blessings. We received a referral from a member and we were able to visit her that same day. She said how she was really nervous and hesitant about meeting with us but after our lesson she said that this was exactly what she needed!!! BLESSINGS! She said the closing prayer for us, which she has never said a prayer out loud before, and afterwards I asked her how she felt because the Spirit was so strong. She said she felt like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders! It was amazing to testify that that is that power of prayer. The pain, suffering, and heartaches can literally be lifted off your shoulders because we have Jesus Christ (Alma 7:11-13- My favorite scripture about the Savior) Sister Vargha and her new companion have another appointment with her this week!!!!!

Sister Vargha and I went on exchanges on Friday. It was the last exchange that I needed to do before the end of the transfer and I was really struggling with whether or not to even do the exchange because everything just seemed to be pushing us towards not doing them. I decided to pray and ask what Heavenly Father would have me do. Instantly, I knew we needed to do exchanges and so I called up the sisters and set it up. As soon as I got to the area, I knew this was where I needed to be. As the day passed, I helped mud a basement, move a family, we met with investigators and had a really good time. Soon I found out the true reason of why I needed to be in this area. One of the sisters who had just found out that she needed to go home for the second time to have surgery, who was already having a hard time in the first place, had a letter returned back to her that she had sent to a friend of hers at the beginning of the transfer. 3 weeks ago he was in an accident and didn't survive. She took comfort in the fact that he had more than likely gotten the letter that she had sent him and when she saw that the letter didn't get to him, it was like living the whole thing over again hearing about his death. I was there to help her and to just let her cry. Heavenly Father knows us so well and he knows how to place us in situations that will bless the lives of others. I wasn't exactly excited about having to leave my area again but Heavenly Father knew what I needed and he knew what this sister needed. When we receive answers to our prayers we need to have the faith to act on those promptings. That was a major lesson I learned this week.

And in turn, my companion had success as well. It was special. Last week we had found a new family to teach and during the exchanges Sister Vargha and her companions were able to meet with the mom again and teach her the Plan of Salvation. At the end of the lesson they were able to commit her to baptism and she accepted a date and they are meeting again with her and her family this week as well.

Another milestone in my mission... I HAD COW TONGUE TACOS FOR DINNER YESTERDAY! Yes you read that right. Cow tongue... I have been wanting to try cow tongue for a little while now because I have heard that it is just so good. I didn't realize I would get my wish. We were just over at a members home and she made us tacos and choco flan for dessert. We were eating and the tacos were so SO SOOO good! Seriously so good. We were all about finished when my companion asks, "What kinda meat is this? It is so delicious." And the member just started laughing... I instantly knew something was up. I was way nervous!!! It eventually came out that we had eaten cow tongue. Not gonna lie... I may have felt a little nauseous when I found out but it was just so good. So, moral of the story, know what you are eating before you eat it or be brave and try something new. It might surprise you how good it is. Also, chocolate flan is pretty much the best thing ever. I'll send you a pic <3 Yesterday, since it was my last day. Sister Vargha and I decided that we would work hard and visit with all those who I wanted to say goodbye too. It was amazing. We were able to have 7 lessons and we saw many miracles throughout the day that helped us reach our goals. I will send pics home!!! I got some really cute ones :) I was really worried about not having the strength not to cry or get upset about leaving but I felt like Heavenly Father was really blessing me with this as well! I didn't cry and none of the members did either. They were all excited for me and the blessing that I will be for the others that I would be serving. I am so so blessed!!!! I love being a missionary! I am so blessed to be serving the Lord with all my heart, might, mind, and strength. I am learning the power of prayer and scripture study. I am learning how to truly love the people and in turn, I am learning how to love myself. I don't know what I would do had I not made the decision to go on a mission. Some days are harder than others but Heavenly Father will not give us more than we can handle. I know I have a lot of work left to do here and I am excited to get to my next area and help the ward members. It is gonna be weird being in a ward again. I love you all! Thanks for all you do to support me. I hope you all will having the blessings you need this week. Work hard. Rely on the Lord and everything will be made right. Con carino, Hermana Jarvis

"YOU ARE A GIANT!" Hermana Bugarin, Hermana Perez Abreu, and I taking a picture after church. I may tower over quite a few people in our branch... I never really realized how much though.

This is Hermana Smith and I. I just want ya'll to know that just because I am a missionary, that doesnt mean I still dont make funny faces!!! I am so excited for Sister Smith!!! She is taking my place as the Sister Training Leader here in the Greeley Zone! She is gonna do great things. I'm gonna miss her as she stays in Greeley!

This is with Brother and Sister Bugarin. They make some of the best food! He is also our branch mission leader and does a lot for us as missionaries!!!

This is an amazing lady named Shirley! We volunteer with her and she has really been an amazing support to me. I love her like a grandmother. She is not a member of the church but we were able to visit and talk with her and I hope that one day she will hear a message from the missionaries!

Cow tongue and choco flan!!!! Life is good!!!

This is Pato(this means Duck in English- Its kinda funny) and I!!! He has been such a help in my mission. He is like a dad to me and has really helped us with our missionary work and language skills. He is the cousin of the member that I used to live with when I first moved to Greeley so he is known as Tio to me which means uncle!
