How are you? I sure hope you're all doing well! I forgot to mention last week that I got a card from the primary in the branch! I was so excited I showed it to everyone before we left zone conference! It was so sweet!
This last week was crazy. It just sort of flew by. We had a wonderful opportunity to do some "service" and some district bonding. The sisters here in Mestre are moving so we got to clean our new apt and put it all together. It was a lot of work so our district came and helped us out so we could get it all taken care of quickly. This really meant a lot to us and the senior couple who are in charge of finding the apts because anywhere you want to go you have to travel by train and by bus to get there. It was so fun and we ended it all with some pasta :) Yum.
Last week we were able to go and visit a wonderful family in the ward. The wife is from New York and the husband is Italian. Their youngest daughter is 10 and since Sorella Morley and I both have a 10 year old sister we just love her! We did a family home evening activity with them that was super fun. We made a crown and brought a wooden spoon to represent a scepter. We placed the crown on everyone's head and said what we love about them. Then, at the end, we placed the crown and "scepter" around a picture of Jesus Christ. We all went around and said why we love Jesus Christ. Since coming on a mission I feel like my relationship with my Savior has grown stronger than ever. He made the plan of salvation-- the plan of happiness-- possible for us so that one day we can return to live with Him, our Heavenly Father, and our families again. He is also the only one who truly and complete understands every one of my struggles, the only person who knows how to comfort me completely. And I can find in Him the best example for how to live my life. I know every day that I continue to develop the Christ like attributes in myself will be better than the day before. I've seen it and I love it!
This Sunday was an absolutely wonderful day! Everyone calls the gospel principles teacher "nonna" which means grandma and this week her lesson was so inspired. We have been trying to emphasize the importance of reading the Book of Mormon daily with our investigators-- everyone really-- and that's exactly what she taught about. She talked about how the Book of Mormon is the food for our spirits and how it gives us true strength every day. One of our investigators was there and she just loved it. She even bore testimony on how reading the Book of Mormon has helped her understand the word of God more in her life. It was just beautiful! It's true. All of it. I just know it!
But the miracles didn't stop with just church. That evening we had a lesson with one of our recent converts, Alex. It's funny, being on a mission you're in a constant state of change or growth (hopefully) but sometimes you just can't see it in the moment. Alex told Sorella Morley and I what he thought of us the first time he met us and how he had changed. He told me that when I got here I had such zeal. Yes, zeal. Haha. And then he said he has seen so much change and growth in me since then. He said I was strong because I knew what was true and I never let things get to me, I don't care what anyone thinks. That made me laugh but as the night went on I thought about it more. It's spot on but a little different at the same time. I do care what one person thinks, my Heavenly Father. As long as He is proud then nothing else matters be it in missionary work, home life, or any situation. That's what matters and there in lies eternal perspective.
I love you all so much! Thanks for you prayers, keep them coming! I can feel them strengthen me every day!
Vi voglio bene!
Sorella Jarvis
