This week in Encanto was crazy. We had a ton of lessons 12 member presents and 8 others. We almost achieved the Standard of Excellence. That would have been the second time in our companionship together. I'll get to the details later.
4/15 We had a Noche de Hogar or Family Home Evening at the church this past Monday. I had a ton of fun. It was a super spiritual presentation and activity. We had a couple on investigators there and they really enjoyed it. The Noche de Hogar was about the plan of salvation and was called a trip to Hawaii. We started off as a plane that crashed and hit some turbulence. The plane crashed and everyone died. After death everyone followed the plan of salvation. We had the Spirit World represented with both a paradise and prison. It was a good representation of what happens directly after death. We then toured through the different glories starting with the lowest and moving up. There was even an iron rod for them to hold on to and a great and spacious building to tempt them. We ended and the Celestial Glory in the primary room. The room opens into the baptismal font so it was a great way to present the importance of baptism.
4/16 We had a lesson with an investigator today that went to the Noche de Hogar. He really enjoyed it. He understood a lot of the information as well. His wife couldn't go because she had to work. So we went over the plan of salvation with her. He was able to help us teach the plan of salvation. He was jumping at the bit to tell he about the glories and everything. It was great to see that the Noche de Hogar really did work.
4/17 We had a member from Capital ward go out with us for 3.5 hours. He will be leaving for his mission tomorrow. He is really solid. He is a recent convert, only member in his family, and he got permission for us to begin teaching his mom. She only speaks Spanish It will be cool if he could baptize his mom while he is set apart as a missionary.
4/18 That same investigator went to a baptism that the other Elders had. It was great. He really has been progressing well.
4/20 We went to the temple with one of Elder Neves's recent converts. He is going to be serving a mission soon. It was really special because with did the session in Spanish It was impressed by how much I knew. I still wish my Spanish was better. While there, we met a temple work that served in Brazil and has the last name Jarvis. It was crazy. What are the odds of that? We also were able to sit in on a sealing. It was done in both languages. It was cool. I want to be able to do that!
4/21 We missed out on the standard of excellence by 2 investigators at church. We couldn't count a day we had because the investigator didn't show up. It was depressing, but blessing followed later that night when we went to a return appointment and had a great how to begin teaching.
Os amo,
Elder Jarvis
