"Hola from Greeley, CO" Email from Sister Jarvis 1/29/2013

Side note: Meagan was heading to Colorado this week so she didn't get to send an email last week :/ But here's her new one!

Hi :)

I made it to my first area and I love it already! I am super blessed. My Mission President and his wife are so unbelievably caring and super nice! It was fun leaving the airport because there were 7 new sisters total and we all were able to ride in the car back to the mission home with Pres and Sister Toombs and all the elders rode in a separate vehicle. But we talked about our mission calls and what we thought when we first saw that we were going to CDNM (Colorado Denver North Mission). It was really fun :)

It was a beautiful day when we arrived in Denver. It was probably 20 to 30 degrees warmer here and I was so grateful! Yesterday was a super long day full of orientation and meeting my new companion :) It was great. And we had a yuumy dinner so I was happy. During our meetings though the temp dropped super a lot and we had crazy a lot of snow. Luckily the road stayed clear and visibility wasn't terrible. Once we finished with all of our meetings though and about to head out the roads still weren't too bad and we were able to make our journey. There were 6 people heading towards Greely so we road in a large 12 passenger van with a trailor hooked up to the back... So funny story... We totally get pulled over halfway through our drive. Apparently our lights on the trailer weren't working and it was super difficult to see us. So I am super grateful for the cop who pulled us over. Plus he was a super nice person! Anyway, we get off the next exit with the cop following us to make sure we are safe and try and figure out the lights... We couldn't get them to work so we just rode the rest of the 45 minute drive with the flashers on... Oh yeah that was loads of fun. But it is a funny story. I am just glad everyone is safe :)

My trainer is Hermana Earl!!! Jared met her in the MTC and told her to look out for me and now look :) We are companions!!! It  is super great! We I first learned that she was my trainer, I was a little nervous because she has only been here for 2 transfers (12 weeks) But I think I am by far the luckiest! She is super good with Spanish so I know I will be able to learn a lot from her already. She is from Reno, Nevada and I am 2 months older than her but she is 10,000 times more wise haha I hope to learn her ways!

This afternoon we went and got icecream at Cold Stone with a few Elders. One of them was in my district at the MTC, Elder Parker, so that was really cool to see him. We are in the same same area so I'll see him every Sunday at church. We are in a Spanish branch and I am super duper excited!

Today is going to  be a fun day! We have lessons with Marle, Ahrly, Gloria, and Domingo and a dinner appt with the branch president and his wife (The Hatch Family) I super grateful because 2 of our lessons are English and then two of them will be in Spanish. IT is going to be so much fun! I am super excited to get to work and meet new people! We are also going tracting today and I am a little nervous about it but I know that it is going to be fantastic :)

Also... Since I broke my ankle I cant wear the boots that I got for my mission because they have a little bit of a heal. I should still have money to buy some on my bank of america card... Mom - could you tell me how much is on there. I need to get some soon because it is muy frio (very cold). And I dont want my poor little toes to fall off! Apparently there is an elder who has gotten frostbite here before... We wouldn't want any of that! haha

Also my mission address is:  (can you post it to facebook please so that everyone has it? Thank you super bunches)

They will forward mail to where I am living... Which ps I live with members. I have only met the wife. She is from Bolivia and is super nice. She made me breakfast this morning :) And there house is super tiny tiny tiny. But I'm not complaining. I am super grateful! I have 4 little plastic drawers to put my things in and a shelf in the bathroom. haha Hermana Earl and I bearly have room to walk in our room... It is kinda funny but it is still adorable and I love it. It is a cute yellow home! Most everyone in the mission lives with members... which is pretty crazy! I had never really heard of that before. But it is nice to have that family atmosphere! I love it so much already!

Welp, I need to run. Time is up! But I love you and I am so grateful that I was able to talk to mom!!! Seriously made my entire day :) Sorry I wasn't able to call you Jess! That was super depressing but everything will be ok.

Love you all so so so so so so so so much :)

Con amor,
Hermana Jarvis
