What an amazing Christmas it has been so far!!! My companions and I had a paper Christmas tree and we put all of our presents under the tree! It was so fantastic!!! We then set our alarm for 6.15 am and finally got out of bed at 6.30!!!! SANTA CAME :) We opened up all of our presents together and got ready for the day! Thanks Carra for the presents!!!! I was so happy this morning when I opened up the box :) The hothands will def come in handy and so will the umbrella and the necklace is beautiful!!! Thank you thank you thank you :) Hermana Hendrickson's mom also got us (Hermana Seaborn and I) a pair of Christmas socks! Super adorable!!!!!
This morning, President Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Seventy came and spoke with us :) It was AMAZING! His wife came as well and I really loved her talk! She spoke about gifts of the Spirit and compared it to receiving "gift cards" for Christmas and receiving gifts from the Spirit! Loved it. WE received a bunch of gifts of the Spirit when we are baptized and as we go throughout life we need to remember to "spend" our gift cards. We need to remember to pray for gifts of the Spirit!!! If you don't know which gifts or gifts to ask for then just pray to find out. Some of the gifts that I am going to try to work for and receive are faith in Jesus Christ (a stronger faith), to learn from everyone I encounter on my mission, and the gift of discernment so that I may be able to know the needs of those I serve!!! It was so wonderful! I challenge you all to find a new gift from God in your life!
A few remarks that I loved from President Nelson were, "Fortify your mind against rumors," and that we should be "rumor stoppers" instead of "rumor longers" ahaha that was funny. He also spoke about not getting offended by those we come in contact with. We should have peace in our hearts because even as, "Imperfect as we are, God's plan is perfect." When we get offended we need to give those feelings to the Savior. He is waiting for us to ask for help. He has already suffered for those those things. There is no reason for us to suffer too. A goal that Pres. Nelson encouraged us to make is to "Make life better for other people." I hope that throughout my mission and throughout my life I will be able to keep this goal and especially during this Holiday season! I encourage you to have a similar goal and to help others along the way, lift their burdens and by doing so, your burdens will be lessened. He also encouraged us to "be wise as you open your mouth. Open your eyes and be aware of your surroundings and those who are around you. Be obedient but most importantly be safe."
This Christmas has been fantastic and we are only halfway through the day! yahoo :)
I love this gospel! I know that my Savior lives. I know that He was borm in a manger and lived a perfect life so that one day I could live with my Father in Heaven once again. I love this gospel. I love reading the Book of Mormon. It is fascinating and as is says in the introduction, "No man would get closer to God that by abiding by it's precepts than by any other book." This is the gospel of Christ once again on the Earth. I am grateful for and I love you you all very much. I hope your Christmas is going well and that you are safe, Have you gotten any snow!? Tell me all about your Christmas experience.
Con amor,
Hermana Jarvis
