How are you?! I miss you so very very much!
Life has been great this week! By the end of the week I will have taught 7 lessons! 5 to investigators (They are my teachers who play the role of investigators) and 2 to members who volunteer their time to be taught. It is going so well. The language is hard and frustrating at times but I know that Heavenly Father sees my efforts and understands why I am struggling. But the teaching has been wonderful! As a companionship, Hermana Seaborn and Hermana Hendrickson and I have been trying to focus more on teaching by the power of the Spirit rather than memorizing sentences on a piece of paper and wow!! It has changed the the atmosphere of our lessons so much...
I like this quote the Hermana Hendrickson shared with us... "If you do not learn a new language on your mission, you learn the doctrine of the Gospel so well but if you are called to learn a new language then you learn to rely on the Spirit like you have never done before." It is so true. I have never felt the Spirit so strongly before other than doing work in the Temple but the Spirit at the MTC is 24 hours a day! I love it. I think I may be getting addicted to it.
A week or so ago I said that I was getting sick but luckily it didn't last long. I still have a runny nose a little bit but thankfully because of many prayers it did not get any worse and I am able to focus on my work! Love it :)
I am sad because 2 of the Elders in my district are leaving on Tuesday. They are going to the MTC in Peru... They are excited but it will be weird! I feel like two of my little brothers are leaving! haha but I know that they will do great. That means my district will only have 4 Elders and 3 Hermanas. It is pretty crazy! And because some mix ups with the computer we did not get any new missionaries for our zone and a lot of our Elders in the zone head out to the Mission Field this week so total I think we will have 13 in our zone by this time next week. That is pretty crazy!! Typically we should have anywhere from 25-40 missionaries. It is kinda nice though because we get to know everyone.
I think one of my favorite experiences that I have had this week was to be able to watch a film on Sunday night. It is an old recording from when Elder Bednar came to speak at the MTC and it was on the Characters of Christ. It was so powerful. The most important point I took away from it was to learn to develop the character of Christ within ourselves. When we would normally turn in and become self-absorbed with our trials and our hard times, Christ chose to turn out and help others during His struggles. When He was in the Garden of Gethsemane and Peter chopped off the ear of one of the soldiers who came to take Jesus away, instead of dwelling on the pain He had just suffred in the garden, He helped the soldier and healed his ear.
During this holiday season, I encourage you all to develop the characters of Christ and turn out and help others!
Love you all very much!!!
