So that is the duomo here in Florence... it just means dome. It's like a crazy
church... well, I don't really know what it's for but we walked the 475 steps to
the top. That's a lot of steps.
Ok, this week I arrived in Montevarchi. Well, just kidding. We don't
actually live there! I can't even put in to words how excited I am to be here! I
am in another branch-- just branch hopping :) This is definitely the smallest
one yet. It was just opened last summer when I got here. It is called
Montevarchi but we don't actually meet there. Well, we don't actually have a
building. We meet in the basement of a hotel for sacrament and we sit in the
lobby for gospel principles and young women. I love it! These people are
amazing! The branch just recently had 4 baptisms-- the first 4! And I was here
the first Sunday when one of them got her first calling. So precious. I haven't
even been here a week and I am already learning so much. The people here truly
understand sacrifice. I am as far south as you can go now and we cover all the
way to the boundaries of the Rome mission. It is beautiful here. There is a
whole new kinda warmth in the people that they don't have in the north. And I'm
technically in central Italy ha ha.
I can't remember if I said this last week but when I was in the MTC I met an
Italian sister going to Washington DC. She told me to look out for her family in
Montevarchi which was near Firenze. When I got the call I was so excited. It's
basically like we switched places. And her father is the branch president here!
All of them are so excited that I know Sorella Sotilli and I couldn't be
happier. These people go to the church on Sunday, no matter where or how far it
may be because they are converted to the Lord. That is a new goal of mine. No
matter what may happen in life if we are truly converted to the Lord or built on
a firm foundation (Sorella Hallum's favorite scripture) then we cannot fall.
Love you all very much!! Statemi bene! (Make me proud)
Con affetto,
Sorella Jarvis
ps. today we explored Florence.
