So this week was rough! We had so many cancellations because of the
holidays. August in Italy is every missionaries nightmare! BUT we were still
able to see so many miracles!
Sorella Jarvis :)
Our investigator Jasmin is progressing so well! We are seeing her almost
every day in preparation for her baptism. It's funny, the other day I sat back
and thought about it, it takes 1 1/2 hours to get to her house every day. That's
a lot of travel time. But the Lord has been placing people in our paths as we
have asked and met so many amazing people! We assigned her the Introduction to
the Book of Mormon and we followed up on it the next day. We asked her what she
thought and if she had any questions. She said, 'I really like it because if you
pray and as God if it's true, He will respond. And if the Book of Mormon is true
then everything else is true. So know I know that it's really important to
read.' She's 12. Most adults don't understand the introduction to the Book of
Mormon. She's changing my life! I love her! She is evidence that the Lord is
preparing those around us- our friends, our family.
We have another investigator that has come to church now for 6 months (my
whole time here) and she wants to be baptized this coming month. Her whole life
has changed as she has put the Lord first in all things and has come to love
obedience. She told us that she now has peace in her life and she's happy for
the first time in years!!! This gospel is a gospel of truth. Truth bring comfort
of peace and happiness. I have seen it in my life and I have seen the difference
in so many people's lives as I have been here!
Saturday night all of our appts cancelled so we were doing old fashion
finding in a teeny tiny town. All of a sudden a car stops in the middle of the
road and jumps out. It was Noemi! She was an investigator Slla Yost and I taught
6 months ago in March. She stopped seeing us because her dad threatened to throw
her out. I have been thinking about her constantly this last month! She said she
saw my face and had to stop. I freaked out and ran over and just grabbed her
into a huge hug! She told me she has been thinking about us so much. Recently
she moved out and was hoping to see us! I was so grateful to see her and knew
that Heavenly Father answered our prayers and led us there at the perfect time.
Also, I know that I am still needed here even if it was just so she could
recognize me and stop. Now once I leave she will be in contact with the
missionaries because Slla Hamblin will know her, too.
This week I have been increasing my study of the scriptures and my Savior.
Without the scriptures we have nothing. They are the evidence that all of what
we say is true. They are the perfect tool for teaching the restored truths of
the gospel. With a testimony of our Savior we can face any trial. We can tackle
any obstacle and we heal any wound. I am so grateful that every day I can carry
His name. It's written on a little black tag that I wear on my shirt every day
but even more than that it is written on my heart.
I love you all! Take care of yourselves but more importantly, take care of
those around you! We are all in need of a hand to hold, a shoulder to lean on,
and someone to tell us we're doing a good job.
Lots of love,
Sorella Jarvis :)
