Is it really December? update for Ian 12-7-15

I can't believe I've be serving for 2 months now!! Where has the time
gone? Well this is my week!

Tuesday we taught Jenny the word of wisdom and she was like I'll quit
the coffee immediately. She understood it perfectly. I was quite
amazed. We have lessons with her and her family every Tuesday and
Thursday. So, we went by on Thursday to follow up. She only drank one
cup for the past two days! Her daughter said she usually drinks a pot
a day! Huge improvement! We read the a part of Alma with her and it
was exactly what she needed to hear! The spirit was there and was
testifying to her that this is what she needs. She said she talked to
missionaries in the past, but this is the first time it has clicked
and realized the importance of this gospel! Super happy to see her
progress!

Wednesday was a huge mess. We were going over to a lady's house  to do
service for her. We parked on the side of the street. Elder Hayes opened the
door and a car clipped it. Elder Hayes was some how fine. Nobody was
hurt, but the car. So, we are back to walking. The whole day was
wasted because we were going back and forth from the mission office
and yeah.

Thursday though, because we were walking we contacted Ashley. I have
met Ashley before but she wasn't super interested because she didn't
want us to come back. She was taking her trash out. So, I said I'll
take it for you. We walked and Elder Hayes and I talked with her. We had
about an hour lesson with her, just talking about the gospel. She
cried three times. We will hopefully see her again this week. She is
so prepared!

I don't remember what I did Friday.

Saturday, was just full of tracting. We didn't find anybody new to
teach so that sucks. But we were diligent! Then, there was a parade
around 4. We went to a recent converts house, who had a friend over,
and had lesson about basically everything. Then we went to dinner at
the S! They are a funny old couple ha ha! They have their own
blue grass band and they didn't realize I knew what blue grass was. I
was like I'm from Virginia... I know what it is.

Sunday Sunday Sunday. Every Sunday 7 hours of church. So, fast
Sunday's can be rough. I was struggling and then 4 is when it ends we
get a call dinner is cancelled. Then we also had the Christmas
devotional which was so freaking great!! That was at 5! President Uchtdorf's
talk was awesome! Probably my favorite! I don't have that kind of
gratitude! So that's what I'm going to work on! So basically Sunday
was the day I came close to breaking the rule I thought I'd never
break. We aren't supposed to fast for more than 24 hours. I was at 23
when I finally got dinner. The thing that always surprises me, is on
fast Sunday I'm never really hungry. I was thinking of food for
most of the day. My companion wasn't feeling well so he grabbed lunch
in the hour of the day we don't have church. But still. Didn't think
of eating. Crazy when you set your sights on something righteous. You
lose your worldly desires.  Well, that was my week. Going to the
Hoover Dam today. Excited about that. Hope you have a great week! Love
ya<3
