This was definitely a very full week! Last Thursday we had mission
council with the Sister Training Leaders and Zone Leaders. It was a really good
experience! I was thinking these are the future leaders of branches, wards, and
stakes and this is where they're come to be prepared for those callings. We
still stuck to the all- Italian goal and I have to say this was definitely the
hardest day so far! My whole brain felt like mush ha ha. It was humbly because it
reminded me of my first Sunday going to church and coming home with the biggest
headache. Everyone told me it was the Italian overload but I didn't necessarily
believe it. And then after Sorella Hamblin's first Sunday I just remember the
look of pure physical exhaustion. Oh, brain melting ha ha.
Friday we had a lesson in church with Egi, who is getting baptized next
week. We invited the bishop to come and we talked about the priesthood,
auxiliaries, and service in the church. It was such a great lesson! I really have
such a strong testimony of the importance of having and living to the fullest
our callings and assignments in the church. That morning during studies I wrote
in my journal that every one of my callings I have in the future I should live
just as fully as my mission. Now, that doesn't mean I have to get crazy but it
means that I appreciate my calling and I constantly strive to understand what I
need to learn from it and how I can help others. We taught about the Word of
Wisdom the week before which we knew might be hard to stop. She made a goal to
stop Oct. 3rd. Well, Friday was Oct. 3rd. So I said, "How's it going with the
smoking?" She responds, "I stopped." I was kinda a little shocked and said, "So,
you haven't smoked today at all." A little confused, she responds, "No, today I
stopped." Incredible. The most amazing thing was that morning she said a prayer
and asked Heavenly Father to help her find work. Two hours later she got a call
and job offer! It was incredible! Obedience brings blessings. Not just will
power or sheer dumb luck. We know what we need to do.
General Conference. I can't even begin. This General Conference was
everything I ever needed. Sorella Killpack and I prepared a list of our
questions we needed answers to and my # 1 was "What should I be focusing on
right now?" My answers: the temple and keeping the commandments. That answers
every other question. Heavenly Father hears and answers every single prayer,
oftentimes through our chosen through. That is why we have a prophet on the
earth today!!
Love you all!
Sorella Jarvis
