So, not so permanent? update for Jessica 3/19/14

Well this has definitely been a week I will never forget! I may be serving in the smallest branch I've been in but let me tell you, it is growing. There are so many amazing people here who have been prepared for the gospel! It is so beautiful. Like I said last week we are working with the mother and brother of one of our new converts and they are just amazing! They love reading the Book of Mormon and they are always in church. They are already a huge part of the branch. It has been so great working with them and preparing their family to enjoy the blessings of the gospel together!

On Sunday we were eating lunch at the house of our new convert. When I was eating I ripped off half of my permanent retainer. It was crazy. It was loose on one side but this just did it. Half of it was attached and the other part was pointed back into my mouth. Seeing as it was a Sunday night there was nothing that I could really do. We got up the next morning and went to district meeting. I had to wear my night retainer to keep the wire from cutting my lip. First time I've done that in a long time. We have a senior couple in our district and they got me some numbers for dentists in Firenze. We left Siena and stop in Firenze on our way back after district meeting. We pretty much called every single number and there was one dentist/orthodontist that said she could see me today but it would be €80. That's a lot of money. I didn't know what to do. So we decided to say a prayer and then go over to this dentist. Turns out, she specialized in children's dentistry... When she was finally available I just told her "I just want to ask a question. Is there anything I can do to just get this out of my mouth?" She ended up just pulling it off ( it hurt) and letting me go without charging me. It was such a miracle! Afterwards she even asked me a bunch of questions about why I'm here. It was so great! I know that Heavenly Father listens to our prayers. Even our desperate cries for help.

Last night we got on the train to head home. We were sitting and waiting at the station for a few minutes. We were trying to do some calls on the train right before it left. All of a sudden I felt really strongly I needed to get my wallet out of my purse. I reached in and it was  not there. I turned to my companion and said "No wallet. No abondamento (monthly pass)." We jumped off the train right before it left. I knew that my wallet was safe and sound at home but if we were to start going and I not have my abondamento that would be a €40 fine when they came to check our tickets. This happened to Sorella Yost and her last companion before and it is not fun. I know that Heavenly Father is watching over us and leading and guiding us. I am SO grateful for the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. Without it I'd be lost for sure. I'm so grateful every day for the little moments because they can change the whole outlook of a day. I love being a missionary!!

Last week we went to the Cinque Terre. It was amazing! And it's starting to get warm!

Love you all!!
