So, I'm 21?? Weird haha. Meh, si tira avanti! (Keep moving
forward!)
Take care! Statemi bene!!
I'm not sure if I mentioned this in the last couple weeks but we just
started our very first English class here in Arezzo (for all you movie buffs
that's where La Vita è Bella is from). We love it so much and it is so much fun!
I love having this opportunity to help and serve others even if my English is
getting worse... Last week we talked about the family. We talked about kids,
grandparents, aunts and uncles, and husbands and wives. One of our students
asked Sorella Yost and I if we were married or if we had boyfriends. We told her
no. Another one of our students-- about 80 years old-- says to us while
pointing, "You are single. You are single. You marry me. You marry me." Oh
goodness. Well unfortunately we had to turn him down... Just another Friday
night at English class :)
I think I had the best birthday ever. I woke up and while my companion is
laying in bed, barely awake, she says, "Happy Birthday, you're 22!" I just let
it slide. She was still sleeping haha. My companion made it the best birthday
ever! While I was getting ready she put signs all over the whole house and made
me my very own princess crown. We went to lunch with one of our investigators
who I just love so much!! She is the mom of our new convert. We were studying
with her and we had just finished reading when she was telling us how much she
loves reading the Book of Mormon. She said, "I love this book so much. It makes
me so happy to read it. Do you want to see my chickens?? Bak Bak Baak." Oh my
goodness. I have never experienced a faster subject change. It was great! She
took us outside and showed us her new chickens. Then she just dropped in my
hands 3 fresh eggs. She said, "For your birthday!" She is just so sweet and so
genuine. She ended up giving me some fresh bread and a bag of pasta too! Boy am
I blessed :)
Then we went to our new converts home. She got me a Nicholas Sparks book in
Italian. So cute! Can't read it but I'll just tuck that away for a little bit :)
At the end of the night we finished off opening presents under the Christmas
tree. Then we ate my first birthday Tiramisù. Yes. Best. Thing. Ever. I could
not be any happier! I love my mission and I love these amazing people I get to
be with every day. My companion is absolutely wonderful and she worked so hard
to make sure I just had the bestest day ever!
Yesterday we were doing finding work on the train and we got to the front
of the car. There was like no one on the train. So we sat down and we were to
switch trains or turn around and head back the other direction. Just 1 minute
before the train worker (I don't know how to say capo treno in English) came and
talked to us. He just say don't and said, "Ragazze, what are you doing? Normally
I see boys with those tags but not girls." Miracles. There are prepared people
everywhere and sometimes they come to us. Love it!!!
Take care! Statemi bene!!
